KABONG – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Saratok District has stepped up monitoring efforts in Kabong following continuous rainfall on Thursday, 7 May 2026.
Patrols were conducted in areas identified as vulnerable to flooding, including Kampung Ulu Kabong and Kampung Baru Darat Kabong.
The inspection revealed that several locations were experiencing rising water levels, largely due to drainage systems struggling to cope with the heavy downpour.
Despite this, the situation remained under control as water levels began to recede gradually later in the day.
APM personnel advised residents to remain alert and to pay close attention to weather updates. They also urged the public to contact APM or relevant agencies immediately should emergencies arise.
The force emphasised the importance of community vigilance in reducing risks during prolonged rainfall.
Authorities confirmed that no temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were opened and no evacuations were carried out. The current conditions were deemed safe, with no casualties or property damage reported.
Monitoring will continue periodically to ensure the safety of residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas.
APM Saratok reiterated its commitment to safeguarding communities and maintaining readiness for any potential escalation.
Local observers noted that proactive patrols such as these are crucial in rural districts, where drainage infrastructure can be limited and heavy rain often leads to flash flooding.
