MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Matu District successfully destroyed a wasp nest located under the roof of a walid bird house in Tian Village on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from a resident who reported the presence of the nest near his home.
Concerned about the potential danger posed by the insects, the complainant guided APM members to the exact location upon their arrival.
Equipped with appropriate tools, the team carried out the operation using insecticide spray and controlled fire techniques. The procedure was completed safely, and the area was declared secure after the nest was destroyed.
Hornets and wasps are known to be aggressive when disturbed, and their stings can cause severe reactions, particularly among children, the elderly, and those with allergies.
Authorities have reminded residents not to attempt removing nests themselves, as improper handling can lead to serious injuries.
Community leaders in Matu have praised the swift response of APM, noting that their professionalism reassures residents of their safety.
The incident highlights the importance of cooperation between the public and emergency services, as timely reporting allows trained personnel to intervene before risks escalate.
APM Matu continues to encourage vigilance among residents, advising them to maintain clean surroundings and to report any sightings of dangerous wildlife or insect nests near residential areas.
Their hotline, 084-832-208, operates 24 hours a day to provide immediate assistance.
The organisation’s slogan, “Nang Steady”, reflects its commitment to reliable service, while the call to action, “There’s a disaster, call APM”, reinforces the importance of community trust in emergency response teams.
This latest case in Tian Village serves as a reminder of the need for preparedness and awareness in rural communities, where encounters with wildlife and insects are more frequent.
The safe removal of the wasp nest demonstrates the crucial role of APM in protecting residents and ensuring public safety.
