KANOWIT – The Kanowit Cultural Festival (KCF) 1.0 / 2026 brought vibrancy and unity to the district with the Niti Daun Program, which drew thousands of participants and spectators in a celebration of cultural diversity and community spirit.
The event, held on 8 May, was officiated by Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Minister of National Unity and Member of Parliament for P.210 Kanowit.
His presence underscored the importance of cultural initiatives in fostering harmony among Malaysia’s diverse communities.
A total of 36 contingents took part in the programme, each showcasing performances that highlighted the distinctive traditions of the local population.
Among the participants was the Sarawak Agriculture Department Sibu Division Contingent, represented by 20 members under the leadership of Nicholas Jati, Kanowit District controlling officer.
Their involvement reflected the strong support from government agencies in promoting cultural awareness and community engagement.
The Niti Daun programme attracted an estimated 5,000 attendees, a turnout that demonstrated the enthusiasm of the local community for cultural preservation and collective celebration.
