MARUDI – The Marudi District Operations Control Centre (PKOD Marudi) responded to an emergency call on Monday morning, 11 May 2026, after a fallen tree was reported blocking access to a village road.
The call was received at 8.15am from a 34-year-old male complainant, who confirmed that while he was not injured, the tree had obstructed the main route leading to the village.
Concerned about the safety and accessibility of the area, he contacted the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM Marudi) for assistance.
Bravo Squad, led by L/Cpl (PA) Kamil Bin Tahir, was immediately deployed with a team of four members. The squad travelled approximately 12 kilometres to reach the site. Upon arrival, they assessed the situation and began clearing the obstruction.
Using chainsaws and manual cutting tools, the team worked efficiently to remove the tree from the road. Their swift action ensured that the route was reopened, restoring access for residents and preventing further disruption to daily activities.
Authorities confirmed that the operation was completed safely, with no injuries reported. The complainant expressed relief and gratitude for the prompt response, noting that the intervention allowed the community to resume normal movement without delay.
APM Marudi highlighted that fallen tree incidents are common during periods of unpredictable weather and can pose significant risks to both motorists and pedestrians.
The department stressed the importance of community vigilance and encouraged residents to report such hazards immediately.
