A Heartwarming Initiative

KUCHING (June 7): In a heartening display of corporate social responsibility (CSR), Ibraco Berhad, Pembinaan JBS Sdn Bhd, and Hope Place Kuching have joined hands to construct a home for an underserved household in Kuching.

Extending a Helping Hand

The collaborative effort aims to provide a stable living environment for a family facing significant challenges. Sim Han Cheng, a 47-year-old diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and his elderly father, who supports him despite his own hardships, are the beneficiaries of this noble endeavor.

According to Hope Place, Sim’s health condition has rendered him unable to work, relying heavily on dialysis treatments. His father, at 71, does his best to sustain the family’s modest income by collecting recyclables and undertaking odd jobs.

A Beacon of Hope

Hope Place, a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities, received Sim’s application for assistance in 2022. Moved by their plight, the organization spearheaded the initiative to build a new home for the family.

Building Dreams, One Brick at a Time

The construction project, valued at RM50,000, involved the demolition of the family’s dilapidated dwelling and the erection of a new structure comprising a living room, two bedrooms, a toilet, and a kitchen. Throughout the two-month construction period, Sim and his father were provided with temporary accommodation.

Handing Over Hope

Recently, in a touching ceremony attended by representatives from Ibraco Berhad and Pembinaan JBS Sdn Bhd, as well as members of Hope Place, the keys to the new home were handed over to Sim and his father. This gesture symbolizes not only the provision of shelter but also the restoration of hope and dignity to a deserving family.

This collaborative effort underscores the importance of compassion and solidarity in addressing societal challenges. By leveraging their resources and expertise, these organizations have made a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, exemplifying the true spirit of community service.
