SEMATAN – The Sematan District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) responded to an emergency call on Monday evening after several wasp nests were discovered near a resort.
At approximately 5.55 pm, members of the public reported the presence of multiple naning wasp nests in tree branches close to the accommodation area at Bukit Sematan Resort.
Concerned for the safety of guests, the complainant requested assistance from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sematan to address the situation.
APM Sematan quickly mobilised a team to the site, ensuring that the nests were destroyed safely and effectively.
The operation was carried out under the district’s standard emergency response procedures, which emphasise readiness, speed, and integrity.
The swift intervention prevented potential harm to resort visitors, as wasp stings can pose serious health risks, particularly to individuals with allergies.
The presence of multiple nests in close proximity to accommodation facilities heightened the urgency of the response.
Authorities have reminded the public that reporting such incidents promptly is crucial in maintaining safety.
Emergency services are equipped to handle wildlife and insect-related threats, ensuring that communities and visitors remain protected.
The Sematan District Civil Defence Force continues to play a vital role in safeguarding residents and tourists alike.
Their work extends beyond disaster management to include handling environmental hazards such as dangerous insects and wildlife.
This case highlights the importance of vigilance in areas where human activity intersects with natural habitats.
Resorts and recreational sites often face challenges from insects and animals, making cooperation between the public and emergency services essential.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to contact emergency hotlines if they encounter similar situations. The Civil Defence Force has reiterated that calls to 999 will connect the public to police, fire, hospital, or APM services, ensuring a rapid response to any type of emergency.
The successful operation at Bukit Sematan Resort reflects the commitment of APM Sematan to maintaining public safety and protecting the wellbeing of communities across the district.
