BAU – A 27-year-old local man was killed in a motorcycle accident early on Thursday morning, 21 May 2026, along the Bau-Kuching Road near Simpang Kampung Buso.
The Bau District Police Headquarters confirmed receiving information about the incident at approximately 6.50 am.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim, who was riding from Bau towards Siniawan, is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before veering onto the right shoulder of the road and colliding with a telecommunications pole.
Medical personnel at the scene pronounced the victim dead. His body was later transported to the Forensic Unit of Bau Hospital for further examination and post-mortem procedures.
Police noted that road conditions at the time of the accident were straight, two-way, and dry, with clear weather.
Investigators are treating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers dangerous driving resulting in death.
Bau District Police Chief, Supt. Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman reminded all road users to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and ensure they are physically fit to drive or ride.
He stressed that fatigue and negligence can lead to tragic consequences, urging the public to prioritise safety at all times.
Authorities have also appealed to anyone with information related to the incident to assist in the investigation by contacting the Bau IPD Traffic Police Station.
The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining road safety and reducing accidents in the district. They emphasised that compliance with traffic laws and responsible driving behaviour are essential to preventing further loss of life.
