KUCHING: A 34-year-old foreign woman has been arrested by police during an Ops Noda enforcement operation at an accommodation premises along Jalan Stutong, Kuching, on Monday afternoon. The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb immoral activities in the state capital.
According to Kuching District Police Chief, the raid took place at approximately 1.08 pm on 26 May 2026. The operation was conducted by officers and personnel from Branch D7 of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department.
During the raid, police detained the foreign woman who is suspected of being involved in prostitution activities. Several items believed to be linked to the case were also seized to assist investigations. Among the items confiscated were a mobile phone, condoms, and other related materials.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have used the Michat application to promote and arrange prostitution services with clients. Authorities also believe that the activity had been going on for about two months, with payments reportedly ranging between RM180 and RM250 for each service offered.
Police further confirmed that the suspect failed to produce valid travel documents or a legal pass to remain in Malaysia. Investigations are now being conducted under Section 372(1)(e) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of up to fifteen years, along with whipping and possible fines if convicted.
The case is also being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not having valid travel documents. If found guilty, the offence carries a fine not exceeding RM10,000, imprisonment of up to five years, or both, and may include whipping.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu stated that the police will continue to intensify enforcement operations to combat illegal and immoral activities in the state. He stressed that such actions are necessary to maintain public order, safety, and community well-being.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ongoing operations under Ops Noda to detect and prevent similar activities from taking place in residential and commercial premises across Kuching.
The case remains under investigation as police continue to gather evidence and identify any possible wider involvement.
