DEBAK – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Debak successfully carried out an operation to remove a dangerous ground wasp nest located near a garden ditch, following a public complaint that highlighted risks to residents and workers.
The incident was reported by a local resident who discovered the nest along the side of a ditch bordering their garden.
Concerned about the potential threat posed to both family members and garden staff, the complainant contacted APM Debak for assistance. Upon receiving the call, APM personnel immediately deployed to the site.
Once at the location, the team conducted a careful inspection to identify the exact position of the nest, which was situated close to a garden pathway frequently used by workers.
The operation was carried out using full protective equipment to minimise the risk of stings. Ground wasps, known for their aggressive defence of nests, can pose serious danger to humans, particularly when nests are disturbed.
APM officers ensured that all safety protocols were followed before proceeding with the destruction of the nest.
The team managed to neutralise the nest effectively, ensuring that the situation was brought under control without incident.
Their swift action reduced the risk of harm to the complainant, garden workers, and members of the public who regularly access the area.
APM Debak confirmed that the operation concluded once the site was declared safe. The unit emphasised its commitment to community safety, noting that rapid response to such cases is essential in preventing accidents and protecting residents.
