Motorcycle Seized, 15 Summons Issued in Mukah Crime Prevention Op

MUKAH – Police in Mukah carried out an integrated crime prevention operation on Friday night, resulting in the seizure of a motorcycle and the issuance of 15 summonses for traffic offences.

The operation, conducted by IPD Mukah, was held along Jalan Mukah-Oya and targeted both crime prevention and traffic enforcement.

Officers reported that one motorcycle was detained under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 after modifications were found that did not comply with approved specifications.

The rider and the vehicle were taken to IPD Mukah for further action, with the motorcyclist later released following documentation procedures.

In addition to the seizure, police issued 15 summonses for various traffic violations. Authorities explained that the operation was designed to curb illegal racing, drug abuse, and other criminal activities in the district.

The enforcement effort also aimed to strengthen public safety during the festive season, when travel and community activities increase.

A total of 145 individuals and 115 vehicles were checked during the operation. Officers carried out surprise inspections on suspicious persons and vehicles, while patrols extended to commercial centres, housing estates, residential areas, and properties reported to be vacant during the festive period.

The operation began at 8.00 pm and concluded at 11.30 pm, with 15 officers and personnel involved. Inspector Mohd Rahmat Bin Jalimin led the enforcement team, which focused on maintaining order and deterring unlawful activities.

Police highlighted that such integrated operations are part of ongoing efforts to ensure community safety and reduce risks associated with traffic offences and criminal behaviour.

Local residents have been urged to cooperate with enforcement officers and to remain vigilant, particularly during festive seasons when crime and accidents can rise.
