The remand order was issued at the Kluang Sessions Court by Judge Mujib Saroji this morning, allowing investigators four more days to hold the suspect until next Monday.

The teenager arrived at the court premises at around 8.45am, wearing a brown shirt and closely escorted by police officers. The proceedings drew attention as the case continues to develop from a serious road traffic offence into a murder investigation.

Earlier, the suspect had been released on police bail after completing a three-day remand. At that stage, investigations were carried out under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. However, authorities later re-arrested him to proceed under a more serious legal provision following further investigation findings.

The tragic incident occurred on June 1 at Kilometer 27 along the Jalan Renggam–Simpang Renggam route in Simpang Renggam, within the district of Kluang. Five people lost their lives in the crash, including a family of four travelling in a Toyota Vios. Among the victims was a 10-year-old girl, who died at the scene alongside the others.

Preliminary reports indicate that the teenager was driving a Mercedes Benz A250 at the time of the incident. He is also believed to have been travelling in coordination with a BMW 530e driven by his 22-year-old brother. The older sibling also died later while receiving treatment at hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the full sequence of events leading to the crash, including the manner of driving and possible involvement of multiple vehicles in what has been described as a high-impact collision.

The case has drawn public attention due to the severity of the crash and the shift in legal classification from traffic-related offences to murder investigation, reflecting the seriousness of the evidence being reviewed by authorities.

As investigations continue, police have urged the public not to speculate and to allow the legal process to take its course.

The outcome of the remand period is expected to further clarify the direction of the case as investigators compile forensic reports, witness statements, and vehicle analysis.
