SONG – The Song District Police Headquarters (IPD) carried out an integrated crime prevention operation alongside the Omnipresence and AMANITA Engagement Programme on 4 June 2026, beginning at 9 am across Song Town.
The initiative was led by Insp Ejan bin Abu from the District Criminal Investigation Division, supported by 13 junior police officers drawn from various branches.
The operation combined enforcement with community outreach, reflecting the police’s dual focus on crime prevention and building closer ties with residents.
The objectives included reducing property crime, enhancing public safety, monitoring suspicious individuals and vehicles, enforcing traffic regulations, and identifying persons on the wanted list.
At the same time, officers engaged with traders and customers in Pekan Song, distributing information about the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application, which allows the public to report incidents directly to the police.
Leaflets were handed out to encourage VSP registration and raise awareness of commercial crime trends. Officers also shared details of the JSJK Sarawak CCID Scam Response Centre hotline, advising residents to remain vigilant against fraud.
Traders were encouraged to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to strengthen premises security.
During the operation, police checked 40 individuals and inspected 50 vehicles. Six summonses were issued for traffic offences, while three new members registered with the VSP application.
No arrests or seizures were recorded, and no registrations were made under the AMANITA Friends programme.
Song District Police Chief DSP Benedict Faris bin Jimoy said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to maintain public safety through patrols, inspections and consistent police presence.
He noted that the involvement of AMANITA, a programme designed to foster closer community relations, had received positive feedback from traders and residents.
The police chief added that the initiative demonstrated the importance of collaboration between enforcement agencies and the public.
He emphasised that crime prevention is most effective when communities actively participate alongside the police.
The operation proceeded smoothly under favourable weather conditions, with all activities conducted in an orderly manner.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing such programmes to ensure Song remains a safe and secure district.
