KUCHING – The Ru Yi Pek Kong Temple in Kota Padawan has successfully hosted its annual commemoration dinner, marking the birthday of the Pek Kong deity and continuing a tradition that has been observed for more than 120 years.
The celebration, which spanned ten days, drew widespread participation from the community, with over 300 teams taking part in the street parade.
Organisers highlighted that the event was not only a significant religious occasion for devotees but also a cultural festival that welcomed people of all backgrounds. The Pek Kong deity, revered in Taoist practice, is closely associated with protection and prosperity.
