BAU – Police in Bau detained a 47-year-old man on 8 June after he was found in possession of substances believed to be syabu during an operation along Taiton Road.
The arrest was carried out at approximately 11.45 am by members of the Narcotic Criminal Investigation Division together with officers from the Bau District Police Headquarters.
During the operation, investigators discovered a transparent plastic packet containing crystalline material suspected to be syabu.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which covers offences related to possession of controlled substances.
An initial urine screening conducted on the suspect returned positive results for drugs. As a result, he was further detained under relevant provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police confirmed that the case will proceed with investigations to determine the extent of the suspect’s involvement in narcotics activity.
Bau District Police Chief, Pisupt Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman, issued a statement following the arrest, stressing that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will continue to take firm action against drug abuse.
He reiterated that enforcement efforts remain a priority in safeguarding communities from the dangers of narcotics.
Authorities have encouraged members of the public to assist in combating drug-related crimes by sharing information.
