A Historic Moment: New Fixture Reflects Temple’s Rich Heritage
KAPIT (June 12): The Tai Pek Kong Deity Hock Leong Ten Temple in Kapit marked a significant milestone on Sunday as members of the board of management gathered to witness the installation of a new signboard at the temple entrance.
Board chairman Ma Tian Ho expressed pride in the new fixture, crafted from imported teak, which he stated is a fitting tribute to the temple’s illustrious history.
“Tai Pek Kong Deity Hock Leong Ten Temple has stood for 150 years, a testament to the enduring faith and reverence of Kapit’s early Chinese settlers. Built with belian, it serves as a sacred space for worship, protection, and spiritual guidance,” Ma Tian Ho remarked.
The ceremony was adorned with vibrant performances by the temple’s esteemed lion dance troupe, followed by a dazzling display of fireworks, adding to the festive ambiance.
Managed under the auspices of the Tai San Ten Association, chaired by Ma Tian Ho, the temple continues to be a beacon of spiritual solace and community cohesion.
In a gesture of gratitude and camaraderie, the culmination of the ceremony saw board members and worshippers treated to a sumptuous dinner on the temple grounds.
