ASAJAYA – Fire and Rescue Department personnel were deployed to Kampung Semera Lot Baru in Sadong Jaya on Sunday following reports of a possible snake sighting.
The operation, which began on 21 June 2026, was categorised as a special service response. A team from BBP Asajaya, led by Operation Commander PBK I Nor Aini binti Hj Usop, arrived at the residence located at No. 733 Kampung Semera Lot Baru. The unit was supported by one LFRT Artego vehicle (BJU 5996).
Upon arrival, the team carried out a detailed inspection of the premises and surrounding area. Despite the initial concern, no snake was found at the location.
Officers conducted a thorough search to ensure the safety of the occupants and confirmed that the environment posed no immediate threat.
The operation was concluded once the inspection was complete, and the team returned to the station. The incident highlights the department’s readiness to respond to wildlife-related emergencies, which are common in rural and semi-rural parts of Sarawak.
Snake encounters are not unusual in villages across the state, particularly during the rainy season when reptiles seek shelter in residential areas.
The Fire and Rescue Department often receives calls to handle such cases, ranging from venomous species to non-threatening varieties. In many instances, snakes are successfully captured and relocated to safer habitats.
Authorities continue to remind residents to remain vigilant and to contact emergency services if they encounter wildlife near their homes.
The department stresses that attempting to handle snakes without professional assistance can be dangerous.
This latest operation in Asajaya reflects the proactive measures taken by JBPM Sarawak to safeguard communities.
While no reptile was discovered in this case, the swift response provided reassurance to the residents of Kampung Semera Lot Baru.
The Fire and Rescue Department has reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring that all reports of potential threats are addressed promptly.
