BAU – Police in Bau District carried out a joint enforcement operation in the early hours of 21 June 2026, leading to the arrest of a local man suspected of running an entertainment venue without proper authorisation.
The raid, conducted at approximately 12.15 am in Kampung Serikin, was part of Operation Op Noda / Op Bersepadu, a coordinated effort aimed at curbing unlawful activities in the district.
Officers discovered equipment believed to be used for entertainment purposes, including portable loudspeakers and microphones.
Authorities confirmed that the premises lacked a valid entertainment licence, a requirement under Sarawak’s Entertainment Ordinance 2000.
The 46-year-old suspect was taken into custody for further investigation. Police later reported that the individual tested negative during a urine screening and had no prior criminal record.
Bau District Police Chief, Pisupt. Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman stated that the case is being investigated under Section 5(1) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000.
He emphasised that enforcement operations are part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order and ensure compliance with licensing regulations.
The police chief also reminded residents to respect the law and avoid organising entertainment activities without proper approval.
He encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious or illegal operations to the authorities for immediate action.
This operation highlights the continued vigilance of law enforcement agencies in Sarawak, particularly in rural districts such as Bau, where unlicensed entertainment centres have occasionally emerged.
The authorities have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding community welfare by ensuring that entertainment activities are conducted responsibly and within the boundaries of the law.
The Bau District Police Headquarters, located on Jalan Sebuku, remains the central point for community engagement and enforcement in the area.
Residents are urged to contact the police directly via telephone at 082-763311 or fax at 082-764100 to share information regarding unlawful activities.
By maintaining strict oversight, the district police aim to prevent unlicensed operations from disrupting community harmony and to uphold the standards set under Sarawak’s entertainment regulations.
