TANJUNG MANIS – Quick action by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Tanjung Manis District saved a puppy that had fallen into a drain at Perumahan Lama STIDC on 22 June 2026.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call at 2.20 pm from members of the public who reported hearing noises from inside the drain. A team of three officers was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team conducted a careful search and inspection of the drain area. The puppy was located in a safe condition but unable to escape on its own.
Officers carried out the rescue operation with caution to ensure the animal’s safety throughout the process.
By 2.40 pm, the puppy was successfully removed from the drain and handed back to members of the public at the location. The operation concluded without incident, and the animal was unharmed.
APM Tanjung Manis expressed gratitude to the residents who acted quickly to report the case. Officials noted that timely communication from the public is vital in ensuring swift responses to emergencies, whether involving people, property, or animals.
The Civil Defence Force highlighted that such rescues demonstrate their broader commitment to community welfare.
While their primary role often involves disaster response and public safety, APM teams also extend their services to protect animals in distress, reinforcing their role as a trusted emergency partner.
Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and to contact emergency services immediately when encountering situations that pose risks to safety.
