LUBOK ANTU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Lubok Antu District responded to a landslide incident in Tanjong Skrang on 22 June 2026, following an emergency call from the public at 12.30 pm.
Three members of the MyASPA-O Alpha team were mobilised at 12.32 pm and arrived at the site at 1.20 pm to conduct inspection and safety assessment.
The landslide, believed to have been triggered by continuous rainfall, occurred behind the kitchen of a private residence.
The complainant, Mr Desmond Muling Anak Lawan, reported that unstable soil conditions had led to erosion.
The inspection revealed a landslide measuring approximately two metres deep and eight metres wide. Fortunately, no victims were involved or injured.
APM officers installed hazard tape around the affected area to prevent risks to residents and the public. Safety advice was also issued, urging vigilance during the rainy season when ground conditions are prone to sudden changes.
The four residents of the house, Lawan Anak Jerandeng, Gia Anak Ali, Desmond Muling Anak Lawan, and Cassandra Valia Rimba Anak Elvis Empawie, were confirmed safe and uninjured.
The operation concluded at 1.30 pm, with the team returning to PKOD Lubok Antu by 2.30 pm after travelling 56 kilometres one way.
Officials emphasised the importance of promptly reporting incidents that may threaten safety, enabling early intervention and reducing risks to communities.
