MIRI – The teachers of Chung Cheong Primary School, Chung Pu, have received a major boost with the completion and handover of a RM250,000 renovation project for their offices, funded under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
The project, which was completed ahead of schedule, represents a comprehensive upgrade of the working environment for educators.
It was not limited to replacing furniture but involved a full refurbishment designed to improve safety, comfort, and efficiency.
Among the improvements carried out were the removal of old ceilings, installation of new desks and chairs, upgraded storage cabinets, repainting of walls and ceilings, and a complete overhaul of the electrical system.
The layout of the office space was also optimised to enhance functionality, while lighting and safety features were improved to create a more conducive environment.
YB Adam Yii, Pujut Assemblyman and Mayor of Miri City Council, expressed his satisfaction with the project’s completion.
He noted that teachers play a vital role in nurturing the next generation, and a well-equipped office environment can directly contribute to better teaching quality and improved work efficiency.
Since assuming his role as Pujut District Councillor, YB Adam Yii has prioritised the phased upgrading of school infrastructure across the district through RTP funding.
He emphasised that such projects are part of a broader commitment to strengthening the educational environment, ensuring that both teachers and students benefit from modern facilities.
The Mayor also highlighted the importance of maintaining close communication with schools to understand their needs.
He pledged to continue promoting campus development projects that support teaching and learning, reinforcing education as a cornerstone of community progress.
The successful completion of the renovation reflects the collaborative effort between the Council, contractors, and the school community.
It also demonstrates how targeted investments under RTP can deliver tangible improvements to local education infrastructure, ensuring that teachers have the resources they need to carry out their mission effectively.
