The incident occurred when a snake was spotted behind the door of the female students’ toilet on the ground floor.

The school immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a rapid response from the Alpha Team of the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Department (BBP Sibu Jaya).

Operation Commander PBK II Lokman led the team, which included members PBB Fairuz Albinus and PBB Nabil, with support from the control room managed by PBB Augustine.

The team arrived at the site using a Mitsubishi Triton utility vehicle (VGR 9844), covering a distance of approximately two kilometres from their base.

Upon arrival, the commander directed the team to use full personal protective equipment before attempting to capture the snake. Employing snaring and pinching techniques, the team successfully secured the reptile without incident.

Once the snake was confirmed safe, it was transported away from residential areas and released back into its natural habitat.

The operation highlighted the importance of preparedness and swift action in ensuring the safety of students and staff.

Authorities stressed that strict adherence to safety protocols was followed throughout the process, minimising risks to both the responders and the public.

PBK II Lokman reported that the team’s coordinated efforts ensured the situation was handled efficiently. He noted that the snake was removed without causing disruption to school activities, and the operation concluded smoothly.

The incident serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance in areas where wildlife may enter human spaces. Schools and communities are encouraged to remain alert and report such cases promptly to the relevant authorities.

The Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Department reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, reminding residents that emergency assistance is available at all times.

Their motto, “Ready and Fast with Integrity”, underscores the department’s dedication to protecting the community from unexpected hazards.
