KUCHING – The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) Sarawak has welcomed a benchmarking visit under the Self-Guided Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA) programme from the Department of National Unity and National Integration, Sarawak. The delegation was led by Mrs Hartini binti Hj Mohd Kassim.
The programme began with a briefing session delivered by Mrs Kho Soo Chin, Head of the Corporate and Training Branch, who shared insights into the implementation of EKSA within RMC Sarawak.
The session highlighted the department’s efforts to create a conducive working environment through systematic organisation, efficiency and integration of workplace practices.
Following the briefing, YBrs Tuan Abg Zamari Abg Nazarin, representing the Sarawak State Customs Director, addressed the delegation.
His remarks underscored the department’s commitment to maintaining high standards in workplace management and public service delivery.
Mrs Hartini responded with a speech acknowledging the importance of such exchanges in strengthening collaboration between government agencies.
The visit continued with a guided inspection of EKSA zones around the Sarawak Customs House. Delegates were shown how the department has applied EKSA principles across its facilities, including areas dedicated to administration, enforcement and training.
The tour provided practical examples of how EKSA contributes to efficiency, integration and improved service quality.
EKSA, introduced as an enhancement to the earlier 5S practice, is designed to foster a more systematic and conducive environment in public sector organisations.
It emphasises elements such as creativity, innovation, green practices and corporate image, aligning with the government’s broader agenda of modernising public service delivery.
The benchmarking visit reflects ongoing efforts to encourage knowledge sharing and best practices among agencies in Sarawak.
By adopting EKSA, departments aim to improve productivity, enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen organisational culture.
