Brazen Daylight Robbery Sparks Concern in Miri Community

MIRI: A shocking incident unfolded on Saturday, June 15, when a man was robbed of his RM100,000 gold necklace on Jalan Nakhoda Gampar. The brazen robbery, captured on CCTV and widely circulated on social media, has left the local community deeply concerned.

The victim was walking along Jalan Nakhoda Gampar when he was confronted by a masked suspect who emerged from a Honda Jazz. Threatened with a knife, the victim was forcibly relieved of his valuable gold necklace. The suspect quickly fled the scene with an accomplice in the waiting vehicle.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the incident yesterday, June 18. According to ACP Alexson, the robbery was reported promptly after the incident occurred three days earlier.

Police are actively investigating the case under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code and are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in identifying and apprehending the suspects. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Miri police at 085-433730.

This brazen daylight robbery serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance in public places, especially during peak hours. The Miri community remains on alert as authorities work to ensure the safety and security of residents.
