The event took place at the Meradong Julau District Council public parking lot, which was transformed into a festival site for the occasion.

The programme highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding families and communities from health threats.

While the focus was on dengue prevention, the involvement of AADK underscored a broader mission: protecting communities not only from the dangers of Aedes mosquitoes but also from the destructive impact of drug abuse.

AADK Sarikei explained that their participation was rooted in shared goals with the Ministry of Health – both organisations strive to protect lives and ensure families remain safe and healthy.

“A happy family not only needs to be free from the threat of Aedes, but their souls and minds must also be protected from the clutches of drug filth,” the organisation noted.

The event was marked by strong community spirit, as residents of Julau worked together to clean their surroundings.

The sight of neighbours cooperating, smiling, and contributing their efforts was described as inspiring, demonstrating that unity can overcome challenges, whether combating mosquitoes or addressing social issues.

Beyond the clean-up, the programme provided opportunities for outreach and engagement. AADK representatives took time to connect with the local community, listening to concerns and reinforcing their commitment to building a healthier, safer, and more prosperous society.

The collaboration between AADK and the Ministry of Health reflects Sarawak’s holistic approach to public safety and wellbeing.

By integrating health initiatives with social protection programmes, the state aims to strengthen resilience against multiple threats.

Organisers expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health Sarikei Division Health Office for the invitation and to the people of Julau for their warm welcome.

The event concluded with a reminder that communities are never alone in facing challenges – support networks are always present to help build a secure and united future.

The Mega Mutual Aid Programme is expected to continue fostering awareness and cooperation across Sarawak, reinforcing the message that health, wellbeing, and togetherness are essential for the future of families and communities.
