Organised in collaboration with Apadilangit (ADL) Space Academy, the two-day programme introduced participants to NASA’s Artemis Mission and the broader world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The camp was designed to spark curiosity and encourage innovation among young learners by combining fun activities with educational content.

On the first day, the atmosphere was lively as children engaged in hands-on projects, including building their own DIY Space Launch System (SLS) rockets.

The activity encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, while giving participants a practical understanding of rocket design.

An introductory session on NASA’s Artemis Mission provided insights into humanity’s efforts to return to the Moon and prepare for future exploration of Mars.

Facilitators explained the mission’s objectives in simple terms, ensuring that children could grasp the significance of space exploration and its role in advancing science and technology.

The camp also emphasised the importance of STEM education in preparing the next generation for future challenges.

By combining play with learning, organisers aimed to show children that science and technology can be exciting and accessible.

Parents and educators present at the event noted that such initiatives are vital in nurturing interest in STEM subjects from an early age.

Over the two days, participants from diverse backgrounds came together to share experiences and learn new skills.

The programme encouraged inclusivity, ensuring that every child had the chance to participate actively and gain confidence in their abilities.

Organisers highlighted that the camp was not only about learning facts but also about inspiring imagination and fostering a spirit of exploration.

Experts have long emphasised the need to strengthen STEM education in Malaysia, particularly in Sarawak, where innovation is seen as a key driver of future development.

Programmes like the Generation Artemis Space Camp are part of broader efforts to align education with global trends, ensuring that young people are equipped with the skills needed for the digital and technological age.

The collaboration between Pustaka Negeri Sarawak and ADL Space Academy demonstrated how partnerships can enhance educational outreach.

By combining resources and expertise, the organisers were able to deliver a programme that was both engaging and informative, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications.

Participants expressed excitement about the activities, with many saying they were inspired to learn more about space and science.

Parents noted that the camp provided a rare opportunity for children to engage with complex topics in a fun and accessible way, helping to build confidence and interest in STEM subjects.

Organisers hope that the experience will leave a lasting impact, encouraging children to pursue studies in science and technology and perhaps even careers in space exploration or innovation.

The camp’s success highlighted the importance of early exposure to STEM, showing that with the right approach, young learners can be motivated to think critically and creatively.

As the programme concluded on 12 July, organisers expressed optimism that the Sarawak Generation Artemis Space Camp would serve as a model for future initiatives.

They emphasised that nurturing curiosity and innovation among children is essential for building a generation capable of contributing to Sarawak’s progress and Malaysia’s role in global science and technology.
