Delegates Adopt Resolutions at 21st Malaysian Forestry Conference

The resolutions, presented by the Resolution Committee, were discussed in detail before consensus was reached. The Chairman formally adopted the resolutions with the ceremonial strike of the MFC gavel, symbolising the collective commitment of Malaysia’s three forestry authorities to the decisions made during the conference.

The session also featured remarks from the Heads of Delegation representing the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD), Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), and the Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia (JPSM). In a symbolic handover ceremony, FDS officially transferred the MFC gavel to JPSM, witnessed by SFD, marking the transition of hosting responsibilities for the next Malaysian Forestry Conference.

This gesture reaffirmed the enduring spirit of cooperation among Malaysia’s regional forestry authorities, highlighting their shared responsibility in advancing sustainable forest management. The adoption of the resolutions marked the culmination of three days of discussions, knowledge sharing, and consensus-building.

The conference theme, “Forests as Catalyst for a Green Economy,” underscored the importance of forests in supporting climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable livelihoods. Delegates emphasised the need to balance conservation with development, ensuring that Malaysia’s forests remain resilient and continue contributing to national and regional sustainability goals.

Over the course of the conference, participants engaged in presentations, workshops, and dialogues covering a wide range of topics, including forest conservation, sustainable timber production, ecosystem services, and community engagement. The resolutions adopted provide a strategic roadmap for continued collaboration among forestry authorities until the next conference.

The successful conclusion of the 21st Malaysian Forestry Conference reflects Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening partnerships across regions and sectors. By adopting these resolutions, delegates have pledged to translate shared aspirations into meaningful actions that will enhance the sustainable management, conservation, and development of Malaysia’s forest resources.
