LUNDU – Firefighters from BBP Lundu responded to a forest fire near the Kampung Siluk water tank on 14 July 2026, following an emergency call received at 4.00 pm. The incident occurred approximately 30 kilometres from the station.
Upon arrival, the team discovered that the fire had affected an area near a one-acre oil palm plantation. Due to the hilly terrain and steep, dangerous roads, firefighters utilised a 4×4 vehicle belonging to the plantation to access the site.
The operation focused on monitoring the fire’s perimeter, taking advantage of existing plantation and logging roads to prevent the flames from spreading further.
The challenging landscape limited direct firefighting efforts, but officers ensured that the surrounding conditions were safe and under control.
Once the situation was stabilised, the team returned to the station. No injuries or property damage were reported.
The incident highlights the risks posed by forest fires in rural areas, particularly where plantations and logging activities intersect with natural landscapes.
Authorities continue to remind the public to exercise caution and report any signs of fire promptly to prevent escalation.
BBP Lundu reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding communities and natural resources, stressing the importance of vigilance during dry conditions when forest fires are more likely to occur.
