BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 15 – The Head of State of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, attended a warm and meaningful dinner gathering with close friends in Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday night.
The private dinner, held at The Empire Brunei, was organised in conjunction with their official visit to the neighbouring country to attend the 80th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Also present at the gathering was Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister-in-Attendance Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, together with his wife, Dato Hajah Dayang Morliah Awang Daud.
The evening brought together several of Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi’s longtime friends from Brunei, including prominent figures who have maintained close personal ties with him over many years.
The gathering began at 8pm and was held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, allowing Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah to reconnect with old friends, exchange updates and strengthen the bonds of friendship that have continued across generations.
The dinner also became a meaningful occasion filled with memories and stories from the past, including experiences during their university years and recollections of their first meetings several decades ago.
The sharing of personal experiences and old memories highlighted the strong relationship built through years of friendship, despite the passage of time and geographical boundaries between Sarawak and Brunei.
The close relationship between Sarawak and Brunei has long been supported by historical, cultural and family connections, with both sides sharing strong people-to-people ties.
During the gathering, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to meet their longtime friends once again. They also hoped that the friendship and goodwill established over the years would continue to grow in the future.
