The incident was recorded at 9.23pm, with the Bravo team from BBP Kapit dispatched to the scene. The case was categorised as a special locked car service, highlighting the department’s role in handling not only fire-related emergencies but also community assistance calls that require technical intervention.

Locked car incidents are not uncommon in Sarawak, and they often involve situations where individuals are unable to access their vehicles due to mechanical faults, misplaced keys, or accidental lock-ins. In some cases, children or elderly passengers may be trapped inside, raising concerns about safety and health risks, particularly during hot weather.

Upon arrival at Kampung Bestari, firefighters assessed the situation and worked carefully to resolve the matter without causing unnecessary damage to the vehicle. Their approach reflects the department’s emphasis on professionalism, ensuring that public safety is prioritised while minimising disruption to residents.

The Kapit Fire and Rescue Station has built a reputation for its swift response to diverse emergencies, ranging from road accidents and fires to community support services. This latest incident underscores the department’s readiness to assist in everyday challenges faced by the public.

Sarawak’s Fire and Rescue Department has consistently reminded residents of the importance of reporting incidents promptly. Quick communication enables firefighters to respond effectively, reducing risks and ensuring that situations are managed before they escalate.

Beyond locked car services, the department also handles animal rescues, flood responses, and hazardous material incidents. Each case requires specialised training and equipment, which the Kapit station has continued to strengthen through regular drills and operational exercises.

Community engagement remains a cornerstone of the department’s work. Public awareness campaigns have been conducted across Sarawak to educate residents on preventive measures, emergency contacts, and safety practices. These initiatives aim to foster cooperation between the public and emergency services, ensuring that assistance can be delivered swiftly when needed.

The incident at Kampung Bestari highlights the everyday challenges faced by firefighters and the importance of their presence in local communities. While no injuries were reported, the intervention provided reassurance to residents and reinforced confidence in the department’s ability to manage diverse situations.

As Sarawak continues to grow, the role of the Fire and Rescue Department remains crucial in safeguarding lives and property. Whether responding to large-scale emergencies or smaller community assistance calls, the department’s dedication reflects its mission to protect and serve.

Residents of Kapit, like those across Sarawak, benefit from the professionalism and commitment of their local firefighters. Their readiness to respond at any hour ensures that the community remains supported, reinforcing the department’s reputation as a reliable pillar of public safety.
