The operation was carried out by three members of the Charlie Squad, who were deployed to the site after residents reported the presence of the dangerous nest.

Stinging flies can pose serious risks to communities, particularly when located near residential or agricultural areas, as their bites can cause pain, allergic reactions, and health complications.

Upon arrival, the team assessed the situation and implemented extermination measures using insecticide spray followed by controlled burning.

The dual-method approach ensured that the nest was completely destroyed. The operation was completed in approximately 20 minutes without any untoward incidents.

APM Saratok emphasised that such interventions are vital in preventing potential harm to residents. Insect nests, especially those situated close to homes or orchards, can endanger children, the elderly, and individuals with sensitivities to insect bites. Prompt removal reduces the risk of attacks and reassures the community of their safety.

Authorities highlighted the importance of public vigilance in reporting hazardous insect nests. Residents are encouraged to immediately inform APM if they detect nests in their surroundings, enabling swift action to be taken before the situation escalates.

This successful operation reflects the readiness and efficiency of APM Saratok in handling diverse emergencies beyond natural disasters.

Their commitment to safeguarding communities extends to everyday hazards, reinforcing their role as a reliable emergency response agency.

The Civil Defence Force continues to remind the public that cooperation is essential in maintaining safety. By reporting incidents quickly and avoiding direct contact with dangerous insects, residents can help reduce risks and support the work of emergency responders.

The destruction of the stinging fly nest in Simpang Semurin demonstrates the professionalism of the Charlie Squad and the department’s dedication to protecting lives.

The operation also serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and vigilance in addressing environmental hazards.

As Sarawak develops, the role of agencies such as APM remains crucial in ensuring community wellbeing. Their swift response to incidents like this reinforces public confidence and highlights the value of strong partnerships between residents and emergency services.
