LAWAS – The Member of Parliament for Lawas has emphasised that the realisation of regional development goals relies heavily on the symbiotic relationship between community leaders and the general public. Dato Henry Sum Agong stated that strong grassroots support is the primary catalyst required to ensure that strategic plans are executed effectively for the collective prosperity of the district.
Speaking at the Lawas Arena on Wednesday, the parliamentarian highlighted that infrastructure and social progress cannot be achieved through governmental efforts alone. He argued that the commitment and trust of the populace are equally vital in transforming planned initiatives into tangible successes. The remarks were made during the flag-off ceremony for the Lawas Fun Run 722, an event organised by the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Lawas Branch to commemorate Sarawak Day 2026. Dato Henry specifically called upon the youth to play a proactive role in this collaborative effort. “Young people need to cooperate with our leaders in Lawas so that they can carry out their duties well. Let us not object or disagree when there is development, when it will actually bring good to all of us,” he said.
