Today, the division is recognised not only for its academic institutions but also as a vital commercial and residential destination within the state.
Infrastructure connectivity stands as perhaps the most tangible indicator of this developmental journey. Where river transport once served as the primary artery and road networks were sparse, nearly 99 percent of the division now enjoys access to paved roads.
This comprehensive network encompasses main highways, rural routes, and village connectors, fundamentally altering mobility patterns and economic opportunities for communities previously isolated by geography.
A central objective of the anniversary celebrations involves educating younger generations about this developmental history. Datuk Rubiah emphasised that understanding the hardships and collective efforts of previous decades fosters appreciation for current achievements.

Abang Muhammad Zulhanis Abang Zakeria, a teacher from Sekolah Kebangsaan Green Road in Sarikei, was announced as the competition winner, receiving RM1,000.
His creative portfolio already includes promotional content for AirBorneo and the Sarawakku Sayang programme, demonstrating how individual talent contributes to broader regional branding efforts. Recognising such contributions validates grassroots participation in shaping communal narratives.
Administrative coordination for the anniversary involves multiple district offices working in concert. Present at the meeting were Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, Samarahan District Officer Ahmad Abdul Razak, Asajaya District Officer Jerry Zannuddin Bidin, Gedong Jamain District Officer Wahab, and Sebuyau District Officer Ayuradiman Bujang.
