KUCHING, Aug 4 – Two schools in Kuching have received new closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at improving school safety and providing a more secure environment for students, teachers and staff.
The programme, titled Enhancing School Safety Through CCTV Surveillance, was attended by YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang at SMK Jalan Arang and SJK Chung Hua Batu 10.
The CCTV systems were contributed by WB Resources Sdn. Bhd. as part of the company’s CSR efforts. The contribution was presented through the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Jordan Ong, demonstrating the private sector’s support for education and community well-being.
Speaking during the programme, the initiative highlighted the importance of creating a safe and secure learning environment where students can focus on their studies while teachers can carry out their responsibilities with greater peace of mind.
The installation of CCTV systems is expected to strengthen security measures within the school compounds by helping to monitor daily activities, deter unwanted incidents and support school authorities in maintaining order and safety. Such systems can also assist in investigations should any security-related incidents occur on school grounds.
School safety has become an increasingly important focus for education institutions, with many schools adopting additional security measures to better protect students, staff and visitors. CCTV surveillance is widely recognised as one of the practical tools that can enhance monitoring while supporting overall campus management.
During the event, appreciation was expressed to WB Resources Sdn. Bhd. and its Managing Director, Mr. Jordan Ong, for their generous contribution towards the two schools. The sponsorship reflects the company’s commitment to supporting education and giving back to the local community through meaningful CSR initiatives.
