The programme was organised in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu and its collaborative partners.

Participants were taken through the green areas of Tumbina during a trekking activity covering approximately 4 kilometres on a round trip.

The route included sections across the hills of Tumbina, requiring participants to navigate both uphill and downhill stretches.

The organisers said the activity provided an opportunity for participants to experience the area’s natural surroundings while testing their physical endurance.

Before the trek began, participants were given a briefing on forest knowledge and safety procedures.

The briefing was delivered by Dr Geoffery, a lecturer from UPM Bintulu, who provided guidance on the natural environment and precautions to be observed during the activity.

The briefing was intended to ensure that participants understood the conditions they might encounter along the route and the importance of maintaining safety throughout the walk.

Following the briefing, the participants began their journey through the Tumbina hills.

The approximately 4-kilometre route gave participants an opportunity to experience the area’s greenery while taking part in a physically active programme.

The changing terrain included uphill and downhill sections, creating different levels of physical demand during the trek.

For participants, the activity offered more than a conventional walk, as the route required them to maintain their endurance while moving through the natural environment.

The group was led by Dr Zamri, another lecturer from UPM Bintulu.

Tumbina crew members assisted throughout the activity to help ensure that the programme proceeded in an orderly and safe manner.

The cooperation between UPM Bintulu and Tumbina provided support for the organisation of the Nature Walk and the movement of participants along the route.

The activity also created an opportunity for participants to spend time outdoors while learning more about the natural environment.

Environmental awareness formed an important part of the programme, with the organisers encouraging greater appreciation of green areas and the importance of maintaining a connection with nature.

The Nature Walk was also linked to the promotion of healthy living through physical activity.

By taking part in a 4-kilometre trek, participants were able to engage in exercise while exploring the surroundings of Tumbina.

The involvement of 120 people also made the programme a community activity, bringing participants together for a shared outdoor experience.

The organisers expressed their appreciation to UPM Bintulu, the participants and all other parties involved in making the programme possible.

The collaboration between the institutions and supporting teams was important in ensuring that the activity could be conducted as planned.

The involvement of lecturers from UPM Bintulu also added an educational element to the Nature Walk.

Participants received information about the forest environment before beginning the trek, helping them understand the surroundings and the safety considerations involved in the activity.

The presence of Tumbina crew members during the walk provided additional assistance as the group moved along the route.

The organisers hoped that similar collaborations could continue in the future.

They said continued programmes of this nature could help strengthen public awareness of environmental issues while encouraging healthier lifestyles within the community.

The Tumbina Festival Nature Walk also demonstrated how festival activities can extend beyond entertainment and provide opportunities for education, recreation and community participation.

The programme allowed participants to explore the natural environment while taking part in an organised physical activity.

The terrain around the Tumbina hills provided a setting for participants to experience a more challenging form of outdoor recreation.

The uphill and downhill sections required participants to manage their pace and endurance throughout the journey.

At the same time, the group format allowed participants to share the experience while being supported by the organisers and activity leaders.

Safety remained an important consideration throughout the programme, beginning with the briefing before the trek and continuing with assistance from the Tumbina crew during the activity.

The educational information provided before the walk also helped establish awareness of forest conditions and appropriate behaviour during the trek.

The Nature Walk formed part of the Tumbina Festival 2026 activities held in Bintulu on August 8.

It brought together participants, university representatives and Tumbina organisers in an activity focused on nature, exercise and environmental awareness.

The programme also provided a practical setting for collaboration between UPM Bintulu and the Tumbina team.

The organisers’ appreciation extended to all participants and supporting parties who contributed to the event.

The successful completion of the walk was attributed to the cooperation of the participants, UPM Bintulu representatives and Tumbina crew members.

The organisers expressed hope that future programmes can build on this type of cooperation and continue to encourage communities to participate in activities that promote environmental awareness and physical wellbeing.

For the 120 participants, the programme offered an opportunity to explore the natural landscape of Tumbina while completing a physically demanding route.

The activity combined outdoor recreation with information about forest awareness and safety, giving participants both an educational and physical experience.

The Tumbina Festival 2026 Nature Walk concluded after participants completed the approximately 4-kilometre round trip through the Tumbina hills.

The organisers thanked everyone involved and expressed hope that similar programmes will continue to be organised as part of efforts to encourage greater environmental awareness and healthy living within the community.
