“Upon arrival, the public informed the rescue team that a victim was trapped under the debris. A rescue operation was promptly launched to locate and save the individual,” said the spokesperson.

The operation culminated at 4.05 am when Lim was extricated from the wreckage. Tragically, medical officers from the Health Ministry confirmed that he had already passed away. His body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah has urged the public not to engage in speculation regarding the incident as investigations are ongoing.

“We appeal to anyone with information about this tragic event to come forward. You may contact investigating officer Abdur Ghani Bigik at 013-8954711, the Kuching Police District (IPD) operations centre at 082-244444, or visit the nearest police station,” said ACP Mohd Farhan.

Authorities are working diligently to determine the cause of the house collapse, and the cooperation of the public could prove vital in their efforts.
