Quick-thinking Factory Workers Save the Day with 30 Extinguishers in Sibu Fire

SIBU (Jan 9): Quick action by factory workers prevented a devastating fire from spreading at a furniture factory in Jalan Rantau Panjang this morning. The workers used 30 fire extinguishers to contain the blaze before help arrived.

According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the incident was reported at 5.57 am. Firefighters from the Sungai Merah Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found that the fire had been confined to two blade-sharpening machines at the moulding block.

Bomba stated that the workers’ timely response helped limit the damage to just one percent of the overall factory. The remaining fire was quickly put out by the firefighting team, who conducted a thorough check to ensure the area was safe before concluding the operation.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, as well as assessing the extent of the damage.

This incident highlights the importance of having well-trained workers who can act quickly in emergencies, reducing potential damage and preventing more serious consequences. The fast response of the factory workers and the efforts of the Bomba team ensured that the situation was brought under control with minimal impact.
