4WD Catches Fire on Jalan Bintawa: Young Driver Escapes Unhurt

KUCHING: An 18-year-old man had a close call when the 4WD he was driving suddenly caught fire on Jalan Bintawa this evening. Thankfully, the driver managed to stop the vehicle and escape unharmed before the flames spread further.

According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Operations Centre, a team of firefighters from BBP Tabuan Jaya swiftly responded after receiving a distress call at 6:42 pm regarding the fire. Upon arrival, the firefighters found the engine bay of the 4WD engulfed in flames.

The fire brigade acted promptly, using two streams of auxiliary hoses to battle the blaze. After intense efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control by 7:06 pm. Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle was able to get out in time and was reported to have no injuries from the incident.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, while the swift response of the fire team ensured that the situation did not escalate further.

In light of the incident, motorists are advised to ensure that their vehicles are well-maintained to avoid similar situations and to always stay alert on the road.
