KUCHING – Deputy Prime Minister I, Datuk Patinggi Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has concluded his two-day official working visit to Kuching, departing for Kuala Lumpur on 15 March 2026.
He left Kuching at 2.00 pm aboard a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft from the Kuching RMAF Air Base. Accompanying him were Datuk Rubiah Wang, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development; Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak; and Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak.
During his visit, Dr Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as Minister of Rural and Regional Development, attended several programmes aimed at strengthening community welfare and development.
Among the highlights were the Ramadan Charity Ceremony and the 2026 Smallholder Prosperity Programme, held at the Darul Istiqamah Mosque in Kampung Niup.
The charity event underscored the government’s commitment to supporting communities during Ramadan, while the prosperity programme focused on empowering smallholders, reflecting the ministry’s broader agenda to uplift rural economies.
These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that rural communities benefit from sustainable development and improved livelihoods.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s engagements in Kuching also reinforced collaboration between federal and state leaders, particularly in areas of rural development, tourism, and environmental sustainability.
His presence was seen as a demonstration of the government’s dedication to strengthening ties with Sarawak and addressing the needs of its people.
The conclusion of his visit marks another step in the government’s outreach to communities across Malaysia, with emphasis on inclusivity, welfare, and economic empowerment.
