PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed his administration’s uncompromising stance against corruption, declaring that no individual will be shielded from the law, regardless of their position or office.
Speaking at the International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 Celebration (IACD) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Anwar underscored that misconduct must be addressed without exception, even if it involves officers within the Prime Minister’s Office.
He stressed that disciplinary measures should be applied for minor offences, while serious crimes must be met with firm legal action.
The Prime Minister highlighted that enforcement agencies must demonstrate courage and impartiality in tackling corruption. He urged institutions such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to act decisively, even against their own members, to safeguard credibility and public trust.
Anwar reminded agencies that every enforcement action must be executed with precision and fairness, in line with the principles of the rule of law. He emphasised that transparency in procedures is essential to uphold institutional integrity and prevent abuse of power.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his government’s full support for MACC and other enforcement bodies, noting that Malaysia had saved billions of ringgit through strengthened inter-agency collaboration.
He said the Malaysia Madani administration is committed to embedding values of integrity and accountability across all levels of governance.
Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki announced that the commission will intensify its crackdown on embezzlement and high-profile corruption cases in 2026. He stated that offenders would be pursued aggressively, with efforts to recover stolen assets and bankrupt those who profited from illicit gains.
The IACD 2025 event brought together government leaders, enforcement agencies, and civil society representatives, reflecting Malaysia’s collective commitment to combat corruption.
The celebration also highlighted the importance of a “whole-of-government” and “whole-of-society” approach, ensuring that prevention, enforcement, and education remain central to the fight against graft.
Anwar’s remarks reinforced his broader vision of building a civilised nation with high-integrity leadership and administration, where no one is above the law. His message was clear: corruption must be eradicated through firm enforcement, impartial justice, and unwavering institutional integrity.
