LUNDU – The Lundu District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) responded to a special service emergency on 8 May 2026 after receiving a call regarding a car lockout incident at BS Supermarket, Lundu.
The case was reported at approximately 10.50am when a complainant realised that the keys to their Perodua Viva had been accidentally left inside the vehicle. Concerned and unable to access the car, the individual contacted PKOD directly for assistance.
The Civil Defence Force (APM) Lundu promptly dispatched personnel to the location. Officers worked to safely unlock the vehicle, ensuring that the complainant regained access without damage to the car.
The swift response highlighted the readiness of APM teams to handle non-traditional emergencies beyond their usual scope of disaster and rescue operations.
Such incidents, though not uncommon, can cause significant inconvenience and stress to vehicle owners. APM’s intervention demonstrates the importance of community-focused emergency services that extend support to everyday challenges faced by the public.
Authorities continue to remind residents that the emergency hotline 999 remains the primary contact for all urgent situations, including police, fire, medical, and civil defence assistance.
The availability of this service ensures that help can be mobilised quickly, whether for life-threatening emergencies or special service cases such as vehicle lockouts.
The Civil Defence Force reiterated its guiding principle of “Ready, Fast & Integrity”, underscoring its commitment to providing reliable assistance across Sarawak.
By responding to diverse emergencies, APM strengthens public confidence in local safety networks and reinforces its role as a trusted community partner.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and to seek professional help when faced with similar situations, rather than attempting risky measures to regain access to locked vehicles.
The incident at BS Supermarket serves as a reminder of the value of trained personnel in ensuring safe and effective solutions to everyday problems.
