MUKAH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Mukah successfully handled a snake-catching operation on 7 June 2026 after receiving an emergency call from the public.
The incident took place in a local plantation area, where a one-metre-long snake was spotted resting in a tree.
APM personnel were immediately dispatched from the Mukah District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) to respond to the situation.
Upon arrival, the task force carried out a careful survey of the site before using the pincer technique to capture the reptile.
The operation was conducted in a controlled manner, ensuring the safety of both the public and the officers involved.
Authorities confirmed that the situation was brought under control without any untoward incidents. No injuries were reported during the mission, and the snake was safely removed from the area.
The Civil Defence Force has expressed gratitude to the public for promptly reporting the sighting, emphasising that community vigilance is vital in preventing potential risks posed by wildlife.
Residents are reminded to avoid attempting to handle snakes themselves and to immediately contact emergency services if such encounters occur.
Snake-catching operations are not uncommon in Sarawak, particularly in rural and plantation zones where human activity often overlaps with natural habitats.
Reptiles such as pythons and other species are frequently found near settlements, especially during periods of hot weather when they seek shelter or food.
APM Mukah continues to highlight its readiness to respond to diverse emergencies, from health cases to wildlife encounters.
Their motto, “Ready, Fast, With Integrity”, reflects their commitment to safeguarding communities and ensuring that operations are carried out professionally.
Residents in Mukah are encouraged to use the APM hotline at 084-872814, which operates 24 hours a day, for any emergencies requiring assistance.
Authorities stress that public cooperation is essential in maintaining safety and ensuring swift responses to unexpected incidents.
This successful operation demonstrates the importance of coordinated action between the public and emergency services.
By working together, communities and authorities can reduce risks and maintain peace of mind in areas where wildlife encounters are more likely.
