SPAOH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Spaoh District successfully captured a venomous snake at a residence in Kampung Serembang on Wednesday afternoon, following a report from a local resident.
At 3.04 pm, the District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received a call from Mr Junai, who explained that his cousin had discovered a snake near the entrance of their home.
In response, the Charlie Squad was immediately dispatched with three members equipped with snake-catching tools.
Upon arrival, the team conducted a search around the property and located the reptile on the metal grate of the door.
The snake, identified as a viper measuring approximately two feet in length, was carefully secured using a snake catcher. It was then placed inside a venomous animal containment box to ensure safe handling.
The captured viper was later released back into its natural habitat, far from residential areas, to prevent any risk to the community.
The operation concluded at 4.02 pm, with all personnel returning safely to PKOD Spaoh and equipment remaining in good condition.
APM Spaoh highlighted that their readiness, speed, and integrity remain central to their mission of protecting residents from potential dangers.
The incident underscores the importance of community vigilance, particularly in rural areas where encounters with snakes and other wildlife are more common.
