APM Sarikei Captures 6-Foot Crocodile in a Residential Area

SARIKEI – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force Sarikei District (APM Sarikei) successfully captured a crocodile measuring approximately six feet in length during an emergency operation at Lorong 6, Taman Susur Jambu on Saturday evening, 28 March 2026.

The Sarikei District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received a distress call at 5.13 pm from a resident who spotted the reptile in a ditch near his home. Concerned for his family’s safety, the complainant immediately contacted APM for assistance.

APM personnel responded swiftly and carried out the capture using a snaring technique, ensuring the safety of both the public and the officers involved.

In a statement, the team confirmed: “The crocodile was successfully captured and fully controlled by the personnel on duty without any untoward incident.”

The operation concluded at 6.10 pm, after which the crocodile was transported to the Sarikei PKOD. It is currently being held temporarily while awaiting relocation by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), which will determine a suitable habitat for the animal.

Authorities reminded residents to remain vigilant and to report sightings of dangerous wildlife immediately.
