LIMBANG – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Limbang District successfully carried out an operation to destroy a large wasp nest at a residence in Kampung Limpaong on 8 June 2026.
The Limbang District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from the public at 1.10 pm, reporting the presence of the nest.
Acting swiftly, four members of the Bravo Squad led by L/Cpl (PA) Amirul Bin Matusin were dispatched to the location, situated approximately two kilometres away. The team arrived at 7.25 pm to assess the situation.
Upon inspection, the wasp nest was found at the back of the complainant’s house. Roughly the size of a football, the nest posed a potential danger to the occupants.
To ensure safety, the squad employed a controlled burning method to eliminate the nest completely. The operation concluded at 7.45 pm, with no injuries reported.
APM Limbang emphasised that the safety and well-being of the community remain its top priority. The agency reiterated its readiness to respond to emergencies around the clock, whether involving insect infestations, accidents, or other threats to public order.
Officials reminded residents that wasp nests can be hazardous, particularly for children and individuals with allergies.
Attempting to remove such nests without professional assistance can lead to serious consequences. By contacting APM, the public ensures that trained personnel handle the situation safely and effectively.
The operation also highlighted the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with emergency services. By reporting hazards promptly, residents enable APM to act quickly and prevent potential harm.
APM Limbang continues to encourage the public to reach out via its 24-hour hotline at 085-210471 or the national MERS emergency line at 999 for immediate assistance.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to readiness under its guiding principles: “Wira Biru”, “APM Forever”, and “Ready, Fast, With Integrity”.
This latest case demonstrates the crucial role of APM in maintaining public safety across Sarawak. Their swift intervention in Kampung Limpaong ensured that the household was protected and the community reassured.
