The MERS’ PKOD Lubok Antu Operations Room received a call from the public at 3.24pm reporting that a tree had collapsed onto a telecommunications cable leading to a nearby longhouse.

Four members of the Bravo Squad were immediately mobilised and arrived at the scene at 3.35pm. With the assistance of local villagers, the team successfully cut and removed the tree, which measured approximately 20 feet in height. A chainsaw was used to clear the obstruction efficiently.

By 3.45pm, the operation was completed, and the route was declared safe and fully accessible to residents. No injuries or further damage were reported.

APM Lubok Antu reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the community, stressing that rapid response and cooperation with villagers are vital in ensuring public safety.

The incident also highlighted the importance of maintaining clear access routes, particularly in rural areas where fallen trees can disrupt communication and mobility.

Local authorities continue to encourage residents to report such hazards promptly to ensure swift action. The collaborative effort between APM personnel and villagers once again demonstrated the strength of community spirit in Lubok Antu.

The Civil Defence Force reiterated its dedication to protecting lives and property, emphasising its motto of “Together to Protect – Ready to Help”.
