APM Marudi Captures Python in Village Kitchen

MARUDI – The Marudi District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) responded to an emergency call on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, after a python was discovered at Lorong Transfer Village 5A, Warung Wizi. The incident was reported at 8.44 am by a member of the public, who feared for his safety.

Bravo Squad was immediately mobilised, with four members led by Lance Corporal (PA) Kamil bin Tahir dispatched to the location.

The site was approximately 3.2 kilometres from PKOD, allowing the team to arrive quickly and assess the situation.

Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant, who was also the victim. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The team then commenced the operation using pinning and baiting techniques, which are standard procedures for safely handling snakes.

The python, estimated to be around four feet in length, was successfully captured without incident.

Once the reptile was secured, Bravo Squad transported it away from the residential area, ensuring the safety of the household and surrounding community.

Authorities highlighted that snakes are common in Sarawak’s tropical environment and can occasionally enter homes or nearby areas.

Residents are strongly advised not to attempt handling such animals themselves, as improper action could pose risks. Instead, they should contact emergency services for professional assistance.

APM Marudi reiterated its commitment to public safety, stressing the importance of swift response and effective techniques in managing wildlife encounters.

Officials thanked the community for reporting the case promptly, noting that cooperation between residents and emergency services is vital in ensuring safety.
