APM Matu Destroys Black Stinger’s Nest Safely

MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Matu District successfully neutralised a black stinger’s nest on Sunday, 3 May 2026, after receiving an emergency call from the public.

The Matu District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) was alerted to the presence of the nest, roughly the size of a takraw ball, located under the roof of a bird house next to the complainant’s residence in Kampung Bawang.

Concerned about the safety of nearby residents, APM members were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the complainant guided officers to the nest’s location. The team prepared appropriate equipment before commencing the destruction operation.

Using insecticide spray (Ridsect) combined with controlled fire techniques, the nest was successfully destroyed.

Authorities confirmed that the situation was brought under control without incident, ensuring the safety of the household and surrounding community.

Officials reminded residents that wasp nests can pose serious risks, particularly when located near homes, and stressed that such cases should be reported promptly to emergency services rather than handled independently.

APM Matu expressed appreciation to the public for contacting them and reiterated its commitment to community safety under the motto “APM Mukah, Nang Steady”.
