MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Matu District successfully handled a snake-catching operation in Kampung Sekaan Kechil on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from a resident reporting the presence of a python inside a livestock pen.
Concerned for the safety of the animals and nearby residents, the complainant sought immediate assistance from APM.
Upon arrival, APM members were guided to the location of the reptile. Officers prepared the necessary equipment before commencing the capture. The python, estimated to be 1.3 metres in length, was safely restrained and removed from the pen.
The operation was carried out smoothly, with no injuries reported and the situation confirmed safe following the removal. The python was taken for further action in accordance with standard procedures.
Authorities have reminded the public that snakes often seek shelter in areas close to human activity, particularly livestock pens and gardens, where food sources are available.
Residents are advised to remain cautious and to avoid attempting to handle such reptiles without professional assistance.
