APM Matu Removes Large Wasps’ Nest in Kampung Berjaya

MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in the Matu District successfully carried out an operation to remove a large wasps’ nest in Kampung Berjaya on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.

The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received a call from a resident reporting the presence of a nest inside a bird house situated next to their home.

The nest, described as being the size of a football, had raised concerns for the safety of the household and surrounding community.

APM personnel were immediately deployed to the location. Upon arrival, the complainant guided the team to the site of the nest. Officers prepared the necessary equipment before commencing the removal procedure.

The operation was conducted using insecticide sprays, including Ridsect, combined with controlled fire application to ensure the complete destruction of the nest.

The team confirmed that the area was safe following the procedure, with no further risk posed to residents.

Local authorities have highlighted the importance of swift intervention in such cases, noting that wasps’ nests can pose serious dangers to individuals, particularly children and the elderly.

Stings from wasps are known to cause severe allergic reactions in some cases, making timely removal essential for public safety.
