SEBAUH – A snake sighting in Kampung Hilir, Sebauh, prompted swift action from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sebauh District, ensuring the safety of residents on Monday.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD Sebauh) received a call from members of the public reporting the presence of a snake in the area. The incident, which occurred on 6 April, was categorised as a KMU case, requiring immediate intervention.
APM personnel were quickly dispatched to the location to handle the situation. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of the reptile and moved to capture it safely.
Their actions prevented potential harm to residents and ensured that the snake did not pose further risk to the community.
The operation was carried out smoothly, with the team demonstrating effective coordination and professionalism. No injuries were reported, and the area was declared safe following the removal of the snake.
Snake encounters are not uncommon in rural and semi-rural parts of Sarawak, particularly during hot weather when reptiles may wander into populated areas in search of food or shelter. Authorities have reminded residents to remain cautious and avoid attempting to handle snakes themselves.
APM Sebauh has urged the public to report similar incidents immediately through its emergency lines. These channels ensure rapid response to wildlife-related emergencies and other hazards.
